The CIBSE LCC Register provides a body of professionals whose competence in low carbon design and the assessment of carbon emmissions has been tested and registered.
Clients can be sure that buildings designed and/or evaluated by Low Carbon Consultants will meet the requirements of Part L (Conservation of Fuel and Power). Building Control Officers can be assured that compliance is being signed off by a suitably qualified professional.
Members of the Register have undertaken examinations to demonstrate their competence to provide the energy certification services that will be required under the Energy Performance of Building Directive (EPBD).
Registered members are required to update and enhance their skills continuously to ensure that they keep up with technological developments and the requirements of the regulations. Building Control Officers can therefore accept submissions from Low Carbon Consultants with confidence in their accuracy because:
They have passed a rigorous examination covering the requirements of Part L of the Building Regulations and the EPBD guidelines.
They use specific auditable checking procedures to establish Part L compliance
Their work is monitored by CIBSE Certification Limited
They have made a declaration that they will only work within their own sphere of professional competence
